Welcome to Sch-Psych.net
Introductions This site is the professional home of David Profitt. Through the links above, you can access my resume, portfolio and various resources useful for school psychologists. Use the search feature to look for specific information. I have long held an interest in both education and psychology. Leaning towards psychology, I earned my undergraduate degree in 1995 from BGSU, Cum Laude. Since then, I have held various positions, including working with higher functioning adult MR/DD populations and a unique grouping of school aged students. With the former, I became convinced of the principle that everybody has the potential for unquenchable growth. With the latter, I realized the need for well educated, dedicated persons in our schools who not only have an interest in education, but also in psychology for healthy and productive living. As our world continues to grow more competitive, less sure, and fast paced, this need to assure the psychological and educational well being of students will grow. I received my Masters of Science in Education with a concentration in School Psychology from the University of Dayton in December, 2003 and my Education Specialist degree in July, 2006. I have recently begun my career as a professional school psychologist. My Philosophy of School Psychology I feel that a school psychologist should be a transformative presence within the school system. He should be a visionary who excites his colleagues to become committed to the schools mission in creating a better tomorrow for our children. The school psychologist must be an effective leader who thinks clearly, analyzes quickly and is skilled in dealing with conflict while serving as both advocate and negotiator. With an open door policy to both administration and teachers, an effective psychologist will balance the requirements of the district with the needs of educators and students. Aspirations It is my desire to produce positive change not only in the lives of individual students, but in the collective lives of student bodies, faculty, and the community. Through the continuous study of research, personal research, and first hand experience of working with faculty, students and parents, I believe healthier and more academically sound educational environments can be created. I have always enjoyed the behavioral science of holistic education, so it is my desire to be a part of this creation process. Mission Statement (Creed)
